grub + travels + perspectives

Urban Grind Tiendesitas, Pasig City

I am never one to scout for coffee shops because (as I've said many times before) I'm not really a coffee drinker, but whenever there's a chance to check a new place out through friends' recommendations, of course, I never turn it down. I've already frequented Urban Grind before, but decided to blog about it just now because over those times I've paid them a visit, one thing I have proven is that they have the greatest cakes. Hehe.

Aside from the delicious cakes, Muffet and I keep coming back here because their interior design is so on point. Muffet's gaga for industrial-themed places, so this hits the sweet spot. There's wood, there's metal, and there's concrete. That's the best part. It's super modern and 'industrial chic,' as she calls it. And it's really a win-win for the both of us to go to a cafe to spend some time to talk and both enjoy the view and the grub.

I don't have a favorite type of coffee, I just order straightaway what I feel like having. As for the cakes, it's a different story. My favorite one here at Urban Grind is their Mocha Sansrival cake, while Muffet always orders the Choco Marshmallow cake. My favorite was out of stock that day so I ordered two different desserts instead (lol): Sansrival and Tiramisu.

For our drinks, I had the Choco Hazelnut Ice Blend and Muffet had the Strawberry Ice Blend. If you want something on the sweet side (which is always, ALWAYS my preference), try the Choco Hazelnut Ice Blend. A nice pick-me-up so I wouldn't feel sleepy right away since we just got out of our shifts. They serve it in mason jars, which was a super nice touch! Muffet's drink is in the Talampas campfire jar mug, which you could avail one at Driftwood MNL!

Urban Grind will remain our go-to place for our 'coffee and chill' (or maybe more of 'cake and chill') moments. The aesthetic of the place is really different from the cookie-cutter design of most coffee shops in the metro, it doesn't get too crowded and their cakes are the bomb. The facade doesn't stand out too much, and you may have to do a tad bit more of looking when searching for it, but I give it a thumbs up, it's worth the trip.
