    Patricia

Majority of my friends call me Trish, I guess you could call me that too. I'm a transcriptions editor with a really messed up body clock and never ending affinity for films, food and written words. I like street art, sweets, neutrals and monochromes, sushi, window seats, golf carts and lazy weekends.

Some of the things that completely preoccupy me are my fixation with the now defunct The Civil Wars and their beautiful art of sadness, Oh Sehun, sleeping, CSS and HTML, @iameden, and those damn hypnotizing Tasty videos. Top country in my travel bucketlist? Iceland. But the one that will always have my heart? Hong Kong.

I was so ecstatic to finally be going back to Intramuros. I totally miss my college life--just the good times though. I don't want to go back studying! Hahaha! But things were much less complicated back those days. I can't even believe it's been that long (4 years) since I've set foot in my Alma Mater.

This dinner buffet was already planned last year, around September. Thank God we finally had our schedules aligned so we can do this!

So much has changed, so much has stayed the same. Of course, I forgot that it was our school's foundation day celebration (YAY, SCHOOL SPIRIT~)! When we got there, there were a lot of people. A lot of cars. A lot of dressed up students. Seriously, ready-to-party, this-is-a-club-not-a-school kind of dress up. How times have changed. Hell, during our time (I can't believe I'm saying during our time!), we can't wear shorts or anything skimpy (as if I will wear one). We can't even wear those flip-flops! We would stick band aids on our foot just to make it look like we're injured so they can allow us to wear the flip-flops inside.

Finally got to visit Peanut Butter Company last Friday at SM Mall of Asia. We decided to have our snacks there since we had a heavy meal at BonChon! I also tried BonChon's Korean Yogurt and I was surprised it didn't taste like yogurt at all. Typically, those supermarket-bought yogurt are sour--citrus sour, and that'st why most people don't like it. BonChon's yogurt tastes more like an ice cream than yogurt which is good because more people will get to appreciate it.

Anyway, back to PB Co, it's tagline of "Spreading life's simple comforts" added that "homey" factor to the dining experience. I don't know if it's just me or it's because peanut butter is an all too familiar food to us. And of course, we all had our peanut butter obsession phase back in the day. I remember before, the only thing I would like to eat for breakfast was hot pandesal with thick Ludy's peanut butter filling! Yum!

After an hour of strolling, we headed to Peanut Butter Company and looked at their menu outside the store first to assess what we would like to eat.

Nice, spacious interiors! Friendly service too! We were lucky it wasn't crowded when we went in. Because after we placed our orders and picked a spot to sit on, people started to come in. And by the time we left, the place was almost full.

It's hard to find food that's instant, delicious and cheap. It's just combinations of two, either instant and cheap but not delicious, instant and delicious but not cheap or delicious and cheap but not really that instant. And I belong to the nocturnal population where we (most of the time) sustain our energy by feeding off 24-hour convenience stores and fast food joints (that sounds very animalandia).

Just found these two new budget-friendly meals and let's say they're instant and cheap and pwede na. Hehe.

    7-11's Luncheon Meat Rice Meal

They have this breakfast rice meal in longanisa, tapa (I think), tocino and hotdog, so why the heck not luncheon meat? I've been waiting for them to finally have this, it's about time! This costs 49PhP (the affordable part) and it's pre-cooked so you just have to ask them to heat it for you (the instant part) but the luncheon meat is not Ma Ling and unlike on the packaging where it shows thick slices, the luncheon meat serving is unbelievably thin.

‘Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?’
‘That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,’ said the Cat.
    ‘I don’t much care where - ’ said Alice.
Then it doesn’t matter which way you go,’ said the Cat.
’ - so long as I get somewhere,’ Alice added as an explanation.
‘Oh, you’re sure to do that,’ said the Cat, ‘if you only walk long enough.’
Losing yourself can make you eventually find yourself. I can attest to that. If you want something really bad, you will definitely make ends meet and make things happen. Going opposite the current is really tough at first--hearing other people's notions and generalizations and convincing them about your plans and trying so hard to prove it. But then you just snap out of it, being passive of being contained inside the four walls of other people's expectations, and just try to do your thing the best way you possibly can.

Dear Cheshire Cat, I am still walking but I can't say I already went far enough to get to that somewhere we all want to be. I made a choice on which what I want to go, I just heed that this walk pays off at this moment. I already made the first step, I hopped, I jogged,  I tripped and I ran but I'm not gonna stop here. (Sorry, I just talked to a fictional cat. Hehe.)

Life is so short to just sit back and let other people take the wheel for you. I know it's easier said than done but if you would just be open to the idea of taking risks, half of the dilemma has already been solved.
“When you’re not on edge, you’re taking up too much space.”

My Saturday was all about food, food and more food! How can I even start my diet if I'm always eating? Hahaha. But of course, I cannot let these opportunities pass given I can spend fun times with my colleagues at work! Our batch never really had the chance to have eat outs that's why I was quite excited that we could make it happen this time. Sadly, we're not complete.

Coffee madness with Mike, Che and Princess Diana.

    . Friday, January 20, 2012 .

It's payday Friday once again and guess what we did! Yeah, yeah. We ate out again. I waited for the bestfriend and her man up until 9:00 am, so that's two hours of watching people pass by and countless times of answering the question, "What are you doing there?". But it was a good thing also because I was able to wait up on someone to follow up the status of that thing which keeps my fingers crossed.

Original plan was to go to The Real Thing diner in TOMAS MORATO. I knew from that point on that it's a bad idea since we'll be so late to come home and that means I will lack sleep and I will just be sleepy the whole shift later.

Plan B: Chic-Boy in Jupiter Street (Again!) Hahaha.

Of course, I always take the pictures.
Look at the freaking feast we had. Each of us had the CB6 meal, then we ordered Ensaladang Mangga, Lechon Sisig, the very famous Ginisang Kangkong, and for dessert we had the Turones con Leche and 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream. Beat that!

I should really start exercising and go on a serious diet.

And about that other thing, I really hope I get it. This is me striking while the iron is hot. And I would really like to have growth in this aspect of my life. I'm 25 years old, I really need to get things going for me.

    Wish me luck!

Last Saturday, I met up with two of my college classmates and a former colleague from SEMPhil. Well, we were all actually employed at that company at some point and Jozen was the only who opted to stay. It's been so long since we saw Jozen! Here are the pictures!

Jozen, Roch and I met up first at Greenbelt and bought the tickets for the 7:00 pm screening of Sherlock Holmes 2. We also grabbed a quick bite and a coffee fix since we were waiting for Fritzie who'll be hailing from Greenhills. I think it's been a year since I left the company and it felt good to hear stories about people who stayed there. I actually miss these people. And I also loved the gossip! >:D

"Ang taba mo!" -- Jozen's (in button down blouse) first three words when she saw me. Haha!
After an hour or so of updates and chit-chat, we went right on to the movie screening. I never watched the first installment of Sherlocke Holmes but I still did enjoy the movie. Robert Downey, Jr. was just hilarious. Hahaha. Can't forget the scene where he dressed up as a woman and of course, his camouflages!

Banana Leaf was the chosen restaurant to have our dinner.

I especially enjoyed the spicy flat noodles that Fritzie chose (food from her childhood~) but to be honest I don't remember the names of the dishes. Haha. So, clockwise, spicy flat noodles with shrimp, fried Tilapia in creamy white sauce and fried rice, the clam dish (I didn't taste this one) and my banana leaf plate filled with all the yummy Asian food goodness.

You should definitely try the flat noodles dish! I loved it. I don't like spicy dishes (well, except for this and Bicol Express) but this got me going to try other yummy spicy food out there! The fried rice was also very good, there were little bits of jam-packed salty flavor that pops in your taste buds every time making the fried rice more enjoyable, I'm not really sure though if those were anchovies or diced deep fried pork.

There was actually a group picture but it was so blurred.

We called it a night around 11:00 pm. I had so much fun and I wish we could do it again soon! Time flies so fast and a lot of things change but I'm so glad we could stop, see each other and catch up as if we've just seen each other yesterday. :)

We were running out of options for what to eat for lunch that John decided we try Big Better Burgers which is just in front of our office. Of course, I said yes. I needed to take a break from all the chicken from KFC and nuggets from McDonald's. Hahaha.

I forgot to take a picture of the front of the burger joint.

    The interior:

The place was just small and it definitely has the diner feel to it. Main color palette's basically red and yellow and John said that the place would've looked better if they used white light instead of yellow. But I don't mind, hehe. Of course, everything was self-service here.

Happy Friday the 13th! It's the new year again and the list just keeps getting longer and longer! Here are some food places that interested me the most and I'm definitely visiting soon!

    1. J.CO Donuts and Coffee (Done! Read my blog post about J.Co here)

I was on the way home and saw this billboard (I forgot where, I was half asleep heheh) of J.CO donuts opening soon here in the Philippines. Being a sucker for sweets and pastries, I searched the company on Google and found out that they originated from Indonesia and will be hitting our shores next month.

    What I'm excited to try:

    Al Capone donut.

Named after the American gangster, this donut is topped with Belgian white chocolate and Californian almonds. (Sounds delicious!)
J.CO Coffee and Donuts will open on February 16, 2012, 9:00 am at SM Megamall and their first 200 customers gets a special treat!

    Parisian Plus Flats

Lately, I've been wearing flat shoes to work because they're literally wear and go. But the soles of the last pair I had (which was Parisian also) were already torn and tattered so I made a last minute decision (and the boyfriend insisted) last Saturday to buy a new pair so I can have something to wear this week.

These flats are super comfy because the insole has some sort of pad on it, making it feel like a cushion to the footbed! Unfortunately, the Parisian Plus line doesn't offer much variety unlike the normal ones. Yes, I can only buy from this line because they cater from size 9.5 to 11 and my feet are of a giant's... they are size 10.

    Serenitea

At long last! Yakult tea for the win FTW! Finally had a taste of the Mango Yakult tea and I love it! It was very, very refreshing and I like how you can choose the sinkers you put on the drinks. There are a lot more drinks to try but I think I'll be sticking with the Yakult teas and the frost series as of the moment.

    Slate Planner

I know when I said I preferred the Artwork doodle notebook over any other planner out there but yes, I've never seen the inside of the Slate planner when I said that. Hahaha. When I went to Gateway Mall last week, I visited Fully Booked just to browse for books. Then I saw this planner and immediately wanted to buy it. I am no artist but I can appreciate pretty stuff when I see them. And I thought every page was really fun and will make you want to write something for the rest of the end of days. That's why planners are made, right? It's 2012, let's live creatively!

Seriously, why haven't I thought of buying this before?

There are some things we get over with and sadly, there are just things we don't.

I felt a certain level of accomplishment when I realized some things. That I am capable of doing and I was actually able to do it. It's been too long going on and finally, we move on. Felt like nothing happened, like suddenly, everything was clear. I had an epiphany yesterday and God, I was so happy about it.

People may not really believe that this has happened but knowing to myself suffices as of the moment.

Then there are things that no matter how hard you try, you can't shake off the feeling. It's as if it's already a part of your being. Automatic, constant, never ending. In the end, you know that you're the only one suffering from this miserable state you always put yourself under, even when there's no reason to.

    I just can't help it.

If things will be permanent, I wish nothing but a change of heart, a wiser mind, a stronger heart. It's a long road ahead of me and I don't want to take each step with a big burden. I don't want to sink deeper.

Do you get what I mean?

Before I had this circle of crazy friends (ehem, Drinkers), I had another group of friends and we fondly call ourselves back then "ChE-Cute" (very, very lulzy). I'd rather not discuss the origins of the names and I really don't know why there should be names. LOL.

You remember this back then, you'd go to Tronix and have a group picture taken and they all have this picture packages so everyone gets a copy? Hahaha. This is it exactly right here.

Janina, Joyce and Kat. Two guys at the first row were Janne and Kat's ex-boyfriends, and
I am the girl at the last row, I'd rather not show my red hair and white shadez~
There was a brief period in my life when I was always alone, I would stay at fire exits near our classrooms during long breaks with no one to talk to, just earphones glued to my ear. And suddenly, they were there, asking me if I was alright (HAHAHA) and that was the start of our wonderful friendship. And I was not alone anymore, I actually had friends to have lunch and breaks with, have meaningful conversations with and best of all, friends to share assignments with.

    . Friday, January 06, 2012 .

I think this was the only month that I had my rest days set on Saturday and Sunday. And I couldn't emphasize more how happy I am that it's finally Friday. I already filed for 3 days leave (which I was really excited about) but shit happens, only one day was approved. Oh well.

And there's this one thing I'm dreadfully nervous about. But I don't want to broadcast it just yet. Haha. I hope everything turns out well. I'm keeping my fingers crossed on this one.

Today being Payday Friday, of course, me and my best friend together with Pabz went to Paris Delice just to try it out and cross another restaurant on our bucketlist.

Pictures, pictures, low quality pictures courtesy of my phone:

    Yes, I'm the third wheel!

Also: Happy 25th Birthday to my dear bestfriend since birth, Cy!

    . Tuesday, January 03, 2012 .

Before we get to the serious part, let me share first how I spent the first day of the supposed year the world ends. I was so miserable and pathetic at work during my December 31st shift, I promise myself I'd get drunk on the 1st of January. You see, I pity myself on New Year's eve because I was just staring out the window of our office watching the fireworks paint the night sky with the most happy colors and patterns. I also got a bit teary-eyed when my mom sent me an SMS at 12 midnight to greet me Happy New Year.

We all got over that sad feeling eventually and I was happy because January 1st was my rest day.

To make it short: Mission accomplished! I was tipsy drunk! Hahaha!

Pabz, me and Cy at a nearby convenience store
